Late Spring Cleaning With Dr Beckmann

We only moved into our house in March, so everywhere is fresh and clean still. It’s a really easy house to keep clean and tidy. The only things that needed a good clean were the oven and the carpet on the landing. Not massive jobs, but ones that neither of us particularly love – until Dr Beckmann came to the rescue.

We’re fans of Dr Beckmann products, regularly using the laundry stain remover and colour catchers, so we were looking forward to seeing how the oven cleaner and carpet cleaner would fare. The oven, in particular, was going to give it a good testing – I’m pretty embarrassed about how minging it has got in such a short space of time!

It’s really simple to use – you spray it around the oven (doors, walls, racks, baking trays etc) and leave it for a while before washing off with a cloth and hot soapy water. We left it for about four or five hours before cleaning it off. It hasn’t worked quite as well as the usual one we use (where we put the rack into bags of the solution overnight) but it has got a lot of the grease and grime off. I think we will stick to our normal one for a deep clean, but this is great to have in the cupboards to do weekly and keep on top of it.

I was weirdly looking forward to using the carpet stain remover. Our carpet is generally clean as drinks and shoes aren’t allowed upstairs, but we have two rather nasty and large dark blood stains on the landing. These are particularly upsetting because they were made by our cat, Daisy, when she was really poorly. Seeing them reminds us all of it, so we were keen to get rid of them without too much hassle.

Just like the oven cleaner, the carpet stain remover was really easy to use. You shake the bottle, squeeze it gently to moisten the attached brush head and then apply it to the carpet. Leave for 3 minutes before wiping with a clean, damp cloth.  The brush allows the solution to really get into the stain and neutralises any odours – perfect if you’re a pet owner or a smelly boy-child mom!

Once the residue has been wiped off and the patch had completely dried (which didn’t take long, as it is more a foam than a liquid), I was amazed to see the stain had completely gone – not a hint of it all. It’s a really handy product to keep in the house for those moments – especially as we now have a rug downstairs.

I can see why both of these products are award-winning, and for less than four quid each, they’re brilliant value, especially the carpet stain remover. They’re both going to be in our cleaning cupboard from now on!
