Wall of Silence

Monday saw the launch of the ‘Wall of Silence’ campaign with Glamour Magazine and Avon. This campaign aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse, and is particularly special to me as my sister in law, Charli, came up with the idea of the wall. Charli, a survivor of domestic abuse herself, knows only too well the long lasting effects and the stigma that surrounds this horrible crime, and entered a competition in Glamour magazine last year with her idea. You can read her story here.

How can you join in?

It’s so easy! Take a ‘shhh’ selfie and upload it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #wallofsilence, and then nominate a few friends (male or female – domestic abuse affects both!) to do one. Each photo with the hashtag is automatically uploaded to the wall. If you’re not on Twitter or Instagram, you can visit avon.uk.com/wallofsilence and upload it there. For every photo uploaded between November 3rd and December 10, Avon will donate £1 to Women’s Aid and Refuge. You can also donate £5 by texting WALL to 70500. Some of the celebrities who have already uploaded their ‘shhh selfie’ include Fearne Cotton, Caroline Flack, Susan Boyle, Dawn O’Porter, Sarah-Jane Crawford and Julian Morris.
