Thomas Alphaphonics | Review and Giveaway

Benjamin starts nursery school today (eek!) and with that is a determination to help him with his reading and writing at home. Like most not-quite-four-year olds, he isn’t really ready to sit down and do stuff, but give him something fun that makes (lots of!) noise, and he’s happy. The Thomas Alphaphonics (available from Amazon for £19.99) whilst possibly one of the most annoying toys for a parent, is great for encouraging little ones to learn the alphabet and sounds.

Thomas Alphaphonics

It’s suitable for children age 3 and over and encourages them to explore the alphabet, early words and spellings with 7 different games which aid early letter and number recognition, communication skills, listening and understanding, memory and concentration skills. Benjamin loves it!

There are 3 buttons at the top, one that lets you listen to the alphabet, one to listen to music and songs and one to repeat a question or sound.

Above these buttons are the 7 activities, where Ben can slide the control to the activity he wants to do. These include hearing the letter name and phonetic sound when you press a letter, finding the first letter of a word and copying sound sequences.

If left idle for more than about two minutes, it switches itself off. This preserves both the batteries and your sanity!

It’s one of those toys that kids will go back to time and time again – I’ve even caught Harrison sitting and having a go with it!
