Summer Style with JD Williams

This summer is going to be really, really busy and really exciting for me. I have christenings, two weddings, Harrison’s birthday and his party and BML16, all in the space of about six weeks. I’m really looking forward to it, but I have to admit that I’ve also been dreading it.

All these things require some effort with appearance, and whilst I love getting dressed up, being ‘plus sized’ , I find it difficult to find outfits that are both comfortable and flattering. When JD Williams got in touch and asked me if I wanted to review one of the summer dresses from their website and a pair of sandals, I prayed that it would be the outfit that I needed for all of these events!

I like quite bright colours and prints, so I chose this lovely cut-out back print jersey midi dress, which is £26. I am generally a size 20 on top, but sometimes dresses can be tight across my boobs, so I ordered a size 22. As it turns out, the dress is very generously cut, and I could have definitely fitted into a size 20. It’s a little baggy by my waist, on the sides, but I will be wearing a light cardi with it which sort of pulls it in so it isn’t a problem. The material is really high quality – it’s heavy enough that it doesn’t flap about in the wind, but light enough to be comfortable on a warm day. I’ve worn it out one evening so far to a little family get together and had some nice compliments, so I definitely feel comfortable wearing it!

Choosing shoes was a bit more difficult. I love shoes, especially heels, but since having the kids I have found that I find it almost impossible to wear heels. I had a mooch through, and these beauties caught my eye. It didn’t matter that they had nearly 4 inch heels and were platforms. I NEEDED them! I ordered my usual size 7, and they fit perfectly. They are as beautiful as they look, but I didn’t think for one minute I would actually be able to wear them. How wrong was I? They are comfortable!! I have literally wore them around the house from the moment I got home from work at half past three until I went to bed, and they didn’t hurt my feet at all. Yes, I’m about 6ft 3 in them, but I will be living in these in the summer!

I was really impressed with the quality of the products from JD Williams, and will definitely consider buying clothes and footwear from there in the future.
