I’ve never worked in an office, but I spend a good deal of my day sitting at a desk in my bedroom working. During that time, I do very little in terms of exercise. I try to make up for it as much as possible on an evening or a weekend by going for a walk with the kids, but I am very conscious of the fact that I’m not really doing enough.
Recent research shows that office workers should be exercising for at least an hour a day to reduce the risk of premature death. Now, we all know when you’re at work, especially in an office, you can’t exactly go out for a jog or start doing star jumps (well, you could but you might get a few odd looks!) but there are things that you can do to increase the amount of exercise that you do during your work day. Furniture at Work have released an infographic showing some yoga poses you can do at your desk, which you can see here.
Of course, it’s really important to make sure your work space is comfortable to begin with. I have a really basic desk and chair, which is ok for short periods of time but is uncomfortable after a few hours. Chairs and office desks from Furniture at Work™ are perfect for sitting comfortably and inspiring a bit of movement. Why not have a go at some of the Yoga moves shown in the video below?
