Living Room Wishlist

As I’ve mentioned before, we live in a rented house, so are very limited with what we can do in terms of making a house our own. Most landlords are ok with tenants doing some basic redecorating, on the provision that it is kept neutral or is taken back to its original decor when you move out.

One way that you can make a rather uninspiring and neutral living room your own is with furniture and accessories. Sometimes, having really simple and plain decor gives you a chance to be a little bit more adventurous and colourful with furnishings! Although we have perfectly fine, functional and practical furniture, at some point in the future I’d like a complete revamp and change it all. I love greys as a basic starting colour because you can add bright splashes of colour which can be easily changed when you get bored.

I love corner sofas – they aways seem much more snuggly and there would be plenty of room for us all to sit together to watch a film. I love this grey  corner sofa from Fishpools. These charcoal lined curtains from Next are perfect for shutting the dark nights out and keeping a cosy feel in the house – and won’t show up grubby fingerprints! I hate bright overhead lights, much preferring subtle lighting from lamps, such as this up lighter floor lamp from Wayfair. I think a splash of orange always looks nice against grey, so a few of these orange cushions from House of Fraser scattered on the sofa and this Handwoven Rug from Wayfair would brighten up the room, and can be changed when you want a new look.

What is your favourite colour scheme for a living room?

  1. We are also in a rented house at the moment and as we can’t really do much we have to be creative with accessories, etc. At the moment it’s pretty boring so I’ve been putting some ideas together on good old Pinterest. The main room I’m focussing on at the moment is Rowan’s bedroom. Thinking a monochrome theme at the moment with shades of grey.

Hopefully we’ll be buying a house in the next couple of years which I can’t for, then we can go mad

    Love the sofa you’ve chosen.
