Graham’s ‘thing’ is coats and watches. I’ve lost count of how many of both he has over the 14 years I have been with him, but he hasn’t loved one as much as the men’s wooden watch that Jord sent us to review a few weeks ago. I can’t blame him – it’s beautiful!
All of Jord’s watches are made from wood and each one is completely unique because of the grain of the wood. They are a US based company, so it did throw me that the prices were in dollars on the main page. However, when you click on a link to look at a watch in more detail, it does have the price converted to British currency, which was useful. Graham decided on the Dover Koa & Black design, which costs £241. Shipping was free, although we did need to pay a small customs charge when it arrived at our post office. It came fairly quickly – about ten days after ordering.
We were bowled over by how beautifully presented the watch was. It came in a lovely wooden box, with the watch sitting on a little hessian cushion. It really would make a gorgeous gift!
The website has a printable measuring tape so you can order the correct size, which was handy as we couldn’t find our own tape measure. We did find it to be slightly out, though – we did need to go and have two links taken out by a local jewelry shop. Because it is made of wood, it’s a lot lighter than a traditional watch, even though it looks really thick and chunky. You can see the mechanics of the watch which makes it really fascinating.
It really is a stunning piece of jewelry. I’m now dropping lots of hints and asking Santa to bring me one for Chrismas from the ladies range of watches!
*We were sent this watch free of charge for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
