We’re Going On A Bear Hunt 4-in-1 Games Cube | Review & Giveaway

One story that all three boys have always loved is ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. I bought a special edition of the book when I was bout 20 weeks pregnant with Harrison, ready to read to him as soon as possible. Even now, at nearly 6, he adores it, as do the other two. Their love (and mine!) for the story intensified at Christmas when the adaptation was shown on the TV. We’ve watched it over and over again! Whenever we are out on a walk, we end up recreating the story in the sea or in puddles (the deep cold river!), the dunes (long wavy grass!), the sand (thick oozy mud) and so on.

You can imagine, then, the excitement in our house when this cute little box of Bear Hunt games turned up to review. It was cracked open straight away, and we had a very happy half hour playing the various games. We’ve never been a big game playing family, but we all really enjoyed playing it together, and it’s definitely inspired me to get some more games for the kids. It actually kept them quiet!

The box might be small but it contains four traditional and much-loved games – Snap, Bingo, Twisted Pairs and 4 Shapes in A Row. It’s suitable for children aged 3 and above, and it was just the right level to keep Harrison and Alex interested.

The parts of the game are only made of cardboard, so they won’t last forever, but they’re pretty sturdy. The only issue that we had is that once you pop the tiny counters out, there’s nothing to put them in. We found a little mints tin that we could squeeze into the box for them, but a sandwich bag or something would do the trick.

The snap cards have some of the lovely images and illustrations that everyone has come to associate with We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and all the boys loved guessing which part of the story the card was from.

It’s a lovely little set – perfect for birthday presents or, thinking WAY ahead, it would make an excellent stocking filler. You can buy it from Amazon, and it has an RRP of £8.95.

However, I can give readers of my blog the chance to win one of the game cubes for themselves – perfect for keeping the kids amused in the upcoming Easter holidays!
