A couple of weeks ago, it was World Book Day. Last year, I was really organised and made Harrison a Very Hungry Caterpillar costume. This year, with moving house just a couple of days before, I didn’t get the chance to make anything.
Thankfully, The Disney Store came to the rescue. Whilst many will think using a character that is technically from a film ‘cheating’, I don’t see it that way. Most Disney films have either originated from a fairytale or have been turned into books. We chose the Woody costume as Harrison is a huge fan of Toy Story, and regularly takes himself off to bed with the book.
Priced at £30.99 (but with 25% off at the moment), it’s not bad value for money. Included were a pair of elasticated waist denim trousers, checked shirt, cow print waistcoat, neck scarf and boot covers. However, I (and Harrison) was very disappointed to see that Woody’s cowboy hat wasn’t included. To me, that’s an essential part of the costume, and for that price, I think it should have been included.
Nevertheless, Harrison really loved the outfit, and from a mum’s point of view, it is incredibly well made. It’s been worn several times and even after going through the washing machine a few times (it should be hand washed!) it is still in perfect condition. I can see lots of fun and reenacting of stories happening whilst this is being worn!
