A couple of months ago we reviewed the shopping list game from Orchard Toys. It’s become a firm favourite and a great way of keeping the kids entertained for half an hour, so we were pleased when we were sent another game to review – this time a festive themed one.
Christmas Surprises is a lovely little game for children aged three to six, and is perfect for helping to develop colour and shape recognition. Like all Orchard games, it is made from high quality sturdy cardboard.
What makes it excellent value for money is that it is two games in one. One side is a colour match game, the other shape matching. As soon as Harrison and Alex saw the box, they wanted to play. We popped out the shapes and decided to play the colour game.
It’s a very simple concept. You roll the dice, and whatever colour it lands on you pick the corresponding coloured bauble and pop it on your tree. If you already have that colour on your tree, you need to wait until the next turn. The first person to collect all the baubles is the winner.
The shape game follows the same concept, apart from you are matching the shapes of the presents. The first person to fill Santa’s sack is the winner.
Retailing at £9.50, this games is perfect for some quiet family fun in the run up to Christmas.
