I haven’t been in The Body Shop since I was a teenager (a scarily long time ago now!), when I would spend ages trying out all the fruity lip balms and spraying myself with White Musk body spray. I was really pleased to be given the opportunity to go to the grand re-opening of the store on New Street in Birmingham thanks to The Bloggers Parlour and have the chance to see how the brand has evolved over the years.
The store is really bright and airy, and plenty of space to walk around – a must when you usually have a pushchair and small children in tow! The staff were friendly and helpful and on hand to give makeup and skin advice. I had one lovely lady take off my makeup and my face was cleansed, toned and moisturised with products from their Vitamin E range, which are lush! This range is perfect if you have ‘normal’ skin like me.
Because I’m quite pale, with a sort of olivey tinge to my skin, I find it quite difficult to find a foundation to suit my skin tone. I’ve recently started using a BB cream rather than a traditional foundation because it feels and looks much more natural and lighter. The lady found me a BB cream which adjusts to your skin tone as it is applied, and it was perfect. I also have issues with dark circles under my eyes, and she found me the perfect concealer to get rid of them.
Unfortunately, because I’m on a limited budget at the moment, I couldn’t buy the makeup, but have noted down the products ready to treat myself to very soon! I did buy a bottle of the Vitamin E cleansing lotion, though.
At the check out we were given a really cute printed tote bag with a few Body Shop products in to try at home. I’ve been using the sleeping cream, which feels lovely and light, even for a night cream. I love the smell of the grapefruit hand wash, and can’t wait to try out the rest of the products.
