A couple of weeks ago I went to a small but fantastic blogger event in Birmingham. You may have the seen some of the photos of the event on my Instagram, and my ‘real life’ friends may have heard me chatting away about it this week.
The #BloggerTikiParty was organised by Kirsty from Kirsty Leanne. It’s not the first event of Kirsty’s that I have been to – I went to one back in September and really enjoyed it, so had been looking forward to this one for weeks. It was held at The Island Bar in Birmingham city centre, and if you hadn’t already guessed by the name of the event, it was Tiki themed.
Well, of course, trying to find an outfit suitable was a challenge. I knew there was going to be a prize for the most Tiki themed outfit, and I knew straight away that was not going to be me. I settled on a bright yellow DKNY skirt that I bought years ago (and was shocked to actually fit into!), and a black vest top. Not very Tiki, but bright and summery nevertheless. I did dig out a flowery wristband thingy that was in my BML16 goody bag, in an attempt to get with the theme!
What I really like about these events is that it’s a chance to meet with lots of bloggers and brands outside of the sort of niche I tend to stick to. Being a parenting blogger, I generally go to events where it is mainly parent bloggers and brands aimed at that genre. Kirsty’s events give me a chance to speak to a lot more bloggers and brands in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle genre.
The first thing I did was head straight to the bar for a Pina Colada…well, it was National Pina Colada day, so it would have been rude not to!
The array of brands that were there, or that had their products in the extremely generous goody bag was fantastic. From food and drinks to makeup and subscription boxes…there was something for everyone. I can’t possibly write about every single item in there (I’d still be blogging about them at Christmas!) but I can share with you a few of the bits and pieces, and you can check out my Instagram for snaps of various things as I use them!
This is a really novel and fantastic subscription box for women, to make THAT time of the month a little bit easier. Each month there are a few little treats in there – food or drinks, beauty bits and a selection of sanitary items in a cute little pouch to put in your handbag. In my box, there was a Maybelline nail polish, Clean & Clear Spot Treatment, fudge bar and brow kit as well as some tampons. It was a really nice little box, and something I would definitely look at subscribing to.
Subscription boxes seem to be all the range now! This one costs just £4.95 a week, and contains 4 little snack boxes, all suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I really liked this particular snack, but not all of them were to my taste. Looking on the website, however, there are plenty of options and there are quite a few I would like to try.
The rest of it!
A huge thanks to Leanne for organising it – I can’t wait for the next one!
