A Tired Mum’s Guide to Working Out

If you are a mum then you probably find it hard to get a few minutes to yourself during the course of the day. It is important to make time to take care of yourself so you can keep on being a great mum. Here are some tips for fitting exercise into your daily routine:

Exercise with the kids

Children who get exercise get better sleep and are less irritable than children who are more sedentary. There are many great activities you can do with your children that will help you get fit. Skipping and jumping can be done in a park or in the yard. If you have a trampoline you might consider jumping on it with your children. Not only will they think they have a fun mum but you will be getting the exercise you need to be healthy and confident in all areas of your life

Make time for exercise with your spouse or partner

Having a friend to exercise with can be encouraging. Why not start spending some time exercising with your spouse? You will both get in better shape and get to spend valuable time together. If you both have the right workout gear you will be more likely to keep up with your routine because you will be comfortable. A men’s compression shirt looks stylish, wicks away moisture, and provides support. You will both want to make sure that you use the proper footwear for your exercise of choice. Running shoes lose support over time so they should be replaced regularly. A good set of insoles can help soothe a tired mums feet while exercising, and reduce soreness and fatigue.

Do small bursts of strenuous exercise

When you have the baby down for a nap you can use that time to get in 20 minutes of strenuous activity. Lunges, squats, sit ups, and more can all be done in most rooms of your home. Yoga and Pilates can be relaxing and help you maintain better mental health. These activities are also all quiet enough to not risk waking your child.

 Be realistic

You are a busy person and might not always be able to do the same routine all the time. Don’t be too hard on yourself if one day you only get 20 minutes of exercise when your goal is 30. As long as you are making an effort to exercise you will see results and be more fit.

 Mix it up

There are so many different ways to get exercise. This means that you should mix up your routine so you don’t get bored with it. Some activities may be more seasonal so this can help. Take a brisk hike in the evening after dinner is served, or gather up the children and cycle around the park. If you have a dog then they will likely be more than glad to become a major part of your fitness routine. Dog owners often get more exercise than their friends who do not keep dogs.
